  13. I retrieved the distribution according to the instructions in 
  14. the FTP.nwc file found on ftp.cs.umb.edu.

  16. I attempted to change the paths (I did not want to use /usr/local) in
  17. the top-level Makefile, and then I typed "sh configure" expecting
  18. these changes to propagate to lower-level makefiles.  they did not.
  19.  
  20. anyway, I made the changes by hand, and typed make. 
  21. the build had problems locating files on several occasions, but I
  22. fished around in the texmf directory and found what it was looking for
  23. and fed it a full path.   but now, it is asking for a file that I
  24. can't find anywhere.

  26. Please help!   If I need to send portions of the Makefile, I can.
